After this terrifying experience, here are things you can do now to protect yourself:
1) turn on 2 factor authentication NOW
2) have strong passwords, a password manager is recommended
3) set up an email list. You can export your email list into a doc as a backup too.
What I learned about Meta support:
1) NOTHING that was given as an option to get my account back worked.
Text messages and emails never came, reset links looped back to their help pages. Even when I got the video selfie to upload, (my spouse had to DIG to find this option) that didn’t get our account back.
2) you cannot talk or chat with a person
3) I explain in the video that I did get onto a chat with a person, but ONLY because I bought a FB ad, which connected me to their Business support.
3) the chat I did get was useless. I was sent copy/paste of their help pages from the person.
