Tension started to rise in the Ukraine-Russia war, which the whole world closely followed.
During a large-scale missile assault on February 10, two Russian Kalibr cruise missiles penetrated into Romanian airspace.
Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, made a statement on Facebook:
“Two Russian Kalibr cruise missiles crossed the state border of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova at 10:18 on 10 February.
At approximately 10:33, these missiles entered Romanian airspace. Subsequently, these air targets re-entered Ukrainian airspace, where the borders of the three countries converge. This target is currently being monitored and measures are also being taken to shoot it down.
The missile was launched from the Black Sea.”
According to Yurii Ihnat, a spokeswoman for Ukraine’s Air Force, the Air Force could have shot down these Russian missiles, but they realized the hazards and threats to the population of the neighboring state, thus they did not do so straight soon.
He also stated that this is not the first time Russia has orchestrated provocations by breaching the airspace of other countries. This was earlier discovered in Moldova.
